As I start my Saturday in the comfort of my home study, I am bombarded with thoughts of the people of Ukraine. Like many of you, I have friends from Ukraine who have moved to the US and other ministry contacts in Ukraine or surrounding areas. My response today is in two forms: prayer and preparation.
There are many who have offered ways to pray for the situation. See Send International as an example. The Ukrainian church is strong and they need our prayers to remain strong.
We need also to prepare. There are opportunities now and in the coming days for the followers of Jesus to care for and minister to and through our Ukrainian brothers and sisters. This includes refugees as well as those who have stayed in the country for the cause of Christ. Unfortunately, there will be those who try to take advantage of the situation so be sure to give or serve through a trusted organization. Your church may help in identifying one if you are not already in touch with one.
